Lazy Sunday

Lazy day today. Actually took down the Xmas tree though.
I also washed my dog. I figured that we'd need to bathe him some day and so I should probably find out how he reacts to it so we'd know what to expect. I just took him in the shower with me and he didn't bark or whine at all. He didn't love it, but he didn't fight it. I was really prepared for the possibility of finally hearing the "Shiba scream" because I've read that many Shibas just hate being bathed. More proof that we have the most awesome pup ever!

Have I mentioned yet how much I absolutely LOVE the nook?! Thanks to the Hennepin County Library and the nook blog's Free Fridays I haven't run out of anything to read since getting it! There were about 800 titles at HCL available for ebook checkout when we got our nook on Black Friday, and in just the month and a half since then the number of titles available from them has jumped to over 4700! They've got a really nice mix of titles available too. I've gone through the entire catalog of ebooks and added titles that sounded interesting to my library wish list. I've got over 300 titles there, so I shouldn't run out of reading material any time soon!

That's good that he didn't mind the shower. Funny how dogs can love playing in water, but hate baths. Never figured that one out. Our little Mulder will hope in a bath to play, but the minute you pull the shampoo down he goes all sooky. Shiraz is awful to bath - you have to battle her, and let me tell you battling a strong, 32 kilogram Dalmatian is NOT good for your back.

My Kindle was posted by Amazon on Saturday...I cannot wait for it to arrive. Soe xcited!

My little miss Lump fights baths like nobody's business (that's her in icon) but being only 12 pounds or so and not having front claws it's pretty much a losing battle for her! LOL I was soooo glad Rex was well behaved in the shower. Being able to shower him will be much easier than getting him into a full tub.
Hooray for Kindle goodness! I've done so much reading since getting the nook.

I wouldn't dare try to bathe Tysie, you'd bleed to death!

Oh, if Lump had claws she probably would have killed us in our sleep years ago! Our other cat we had would complain but not fight back, so even though he had all his claws we could wash him too w/o getting scratched.

Very cool. An e-reader is on my list of fancy items I want but can't afford. I need to figure out how to save some money. Which I'm not sure I can do.

I know the feeling! We were already thinking about it as the gift for ourselves this year and when I saw that Best Buy would have the wi-fi version for $100 as a Black Friday doorbuster ($50 off regular price!) we went out earlier that week to compare the Kindle & nook to make our decision.

I think if more people actually got into a shower with their dog they'd discover that the dogs liked it just fine. My cat loved laying on my (ex)husband in the bathtub. The cat would be half-submerged and not mind at all as long as he was "with" his person and not just being subjected to something by all by himself.

I never quite got okay with being in a tubful of water with my cat, but after a youth of bathing with my ex, my cat didn't mind getting baths at all.

My second cat, however.... well, let's just say you need a medic standing by to bathe that one...

It's a good thing cats don't need to be bathed too often! Since the dog actually has to go outside several times a day no matter what the weather is I know he's going to need baths much more often than the cats ever did.

If you'd just asked, we coulda told you he was fine with baths and showers! In fact, he got muddy one day, and Monica was already getting in the shower, so I just made her take him in with her.

We use the shower to bathe ours, too. Good puppy that he doesn't mind! Ours will tolerate the baths, so long as they get fed treats while they're in!
