Random things from life
My Fed-Ex package was waiting for me when I got home. Opened it up, and pulled out... iLife! Looked at Brian's original email w/the shipping info & sure enough he accidentally ordered the wrong one. After how much Fed-Ex annoyed me I just had to laugh.

Was going to go to the Apple store to see if it could be exchanged there and [info]hellbob asked how much iLife goes for. Told him that it is the same as iWork, $79. Well, he thought iLife/GarageBand was way more expensive than that, $200 at least. So he's decided that if it's only $79 he's gonna buy a legal copy. So now instead of trying to exchange the one I got I'll just pick up iWork at the Apple store.

We watched the pilot episode of Sci-Fi's Flash Gordon. Ouch. Painfully bad. "imex. What's an imex?" [info]hellbob compared Flash Gordon to a Sci-Fi Saturday feature, but without the heart & soul that makes them fun...

The Space Shuttle Endeavour landed safely this afternoon! The came home early to avoid the hurricanes an storms, and the damaged tile didn't cause any problems. Yay!

Found out on the ride up to the cabin that my [info]technomonkey_m ♥ Me First & the Gimme Gimmes! You go boy!

Contemplating setting my Twitter account to protected. Not because I don't want people to be able to read my tweets, but because the random adds by people who add hundreds and thousands of twitterers annoy me, and those are always right after I make a post which would have shown up on the public timeline. I like the idea of real people finding me and adding me though. I dunno. I think they would also stop showing up on the RSS feed, but I think the only non-twitter person reading that is [info]genevra.

Applied for several jobs during my emo day at home yesterday. Don't know why I never thought of it sooner, but instead of searching for the key word "photoshop" I searched for just "photo." There were a couple jobs at local custom labs that I applied for. There is one that I am really hoping calls me back because I am uber-qualified and the pay is in the range I need and since it is part time with the possiblility of full time I should hopefully be able to work it around the school schedule. Not even going to say the name though because I don't want to jinx it. I wanted that Memorial Blood Centers job that I didn't get too badly and don't want to deal w/that again. *edit* The one I was really hoping would call me back emailed me and wants me to call "at my earliest convenience." to talk about the position! Yay!

Because I was having such a bad day yesterday when [info]hellbob stopped to pick up my drugs for me he also got me chocolate. Unfortunately Byerly's didn't have Vosges anymore. :(

My mood is definitely much improved today.

I have become oddly addicted to "Scott Baio is 45 and Single." No, I can't explain it, I just am.

A cool new way to see independent films that don't come to your town:
From [info]poyboy's journal: Independent film Hannah Takes The Stairs is playing in NYC tomorrow, but if your city has IFC InTheaters you can watch it at home tomorrow too. )
Here in the Cities, when I put my zip code in the IFC site says that Comcast Cable has this but DirecTV doesn't. If you have Comcast and are a fan of independent film, you should look into this.

And while I'm pimping friends' stuff, y'all should go watch This Day In Alternate History if you're not already. There have been 41 episodes already. They're all about 5 minutes long or so, and they are a total riot. They are hosted by MightyMur, aka [info]sailormur and HoboZero, aka [info]cryptonaut. Find them HERE.

Also, are you listening to Escape Pod yet? Top notch sci-fi stories read by talented people. This is [info]sfeley's baby, and he's a very good daddy! The latest episode, #119 Aliens Want Our Women, was read by the supah-sexay Leann from the TitS podcast. Go listen now.

So anyway, there's a bunch of the random stuff floating in my brain today. Yes, I was having a VERY bad day yesterday. But I am much better today. Better living through chemistry, yo.

*note* although this post has the goat-fucking tag, it does not contain any actual goat fucking. The tag still just amuses me and I wanted to use it!

Is that much hotness allowed on one screen?

James Marsters is gonna guest star on Torchwood!!!!

From the JamesMarstersLive.com site:

James will be playing a one-off concert in Cardiff on Saturday, July 21.

He will be appearing at The Point in Mount Stuart Square in Cardiff. Tickets cost £20 (subject to booking fee) and are now on sale from The Point. Full details of the concert are available here.

James is in town filming for the second series of UK sci-fi television favourite Torchwood.

He will be appearing as a guest star alongside leading actor John Barrowman in the BBC's adult spin-off of long-running television series Doctor Who.

Torchwood - an anagram of Doctor Who - is a secret task force that deals with alien encounters. John Barrowman plays mysterious multi-sexual time agent Captain Jack Harkness, who leads the Cardiff-based team. Series creator Russell T Davies, winner of the 2006 BAFTA Dennis Potter Award for Outstanding Writing for Television, has also written Casanova, Dr Who and Queer As Folk.

The episode will be broadcast in the UK by the BBC early next year.

Prostitute vs. whore
Have y'all seen the tv show Action? It's out on DVD now.
If you've never seen it you must rent/buy/Netflix/steal it. Whatever it takes to get your hands on it.
It was an absolutely brilliant show. Too smart and funny for Fox, so they cancelled it. I know, Fox canceling a good show... Whoda thunk?
I just watched the first few episodes with [info]lucky13charm and this exchange of dialogue in the pilot sums up why I love this show:

(Wendy Ward is a prostitute, there with Peter Dragon. Peter Dragon is a movie producer. Stuart Glazer is his suck-up assistant. They are talking about Peter's newest movie.)

Wendy Ward: I thought it just plain sucked!
Stuart Glazer: Excuse me, who are you?
Peter Dragon: She's my prostitute.
Stuart Glazer: She's your whore?
Peter Dragon: No, she's my prostitute. You're my whore.

F' ing brilliant show. And i need an Action icon, like yesterday. Must work on that!

At work... blah blah blah
I will remember to leave at 3:30 today. I will!!!

Today's wildlife sighting: 3 (possibly 4) deer. And I got me some good pictures I think. I don't have my Compact Flash reader here at work though so I can't move the pics to my laptop. Silly Sharon!

Holy Cow did it rain last night! [info]hellbob mentioned something about building an arc but I reminded him that we live on top of a hill. We did not float away.

I caught up on Veronica Mars. I had to resort to tivoing the Sunday episode so that I can catch House also. When Logan does his puppy eye thing? *whimper* Of course he's way too damn young for me!!

I'm still behind on my Smallville watching. I just watched "Mercy" last night which was the Lionel/Martha episode and it was really good. The next one up has lots of Fine/Brainiac though I think!!!!!!!!

In theory I will also have some more flower pictures and some more bird pictures up in the gallery tonight. And, of course, deer!

I stopped at the bird pond again yesterday. Saw the green heron again. Also a Wood Duck, a Mallard, and I chased an egret around the pond. Maybe I'll try to actually stop there sometime when it's NOT raining so that I can just sit down and wait to see what comes. :)

Thank the gods this is a short day - only 8 hours - because I'm ready to leave NOW!!

Bones
Hee hee! I'm watching this week's Bones and they showed an x-ray of a girl's leg who had a bone graft. There were screws in the x-ray holding the bone in place & they were just like my screw! Someone should tell that girl that when they are removed you can ask the doctor to let you keep them and then you can put them on your key chain!

Veronica Mars
Even when he's being self absorbed and smug, Logan is just so darn adorable!

Must go add Black Cadillac to my Netflix list. I saw it back in 2003 at CSFF.
