Is it Friday yet?

Sigh. Long week. We had no air conditioning at work today. It wasn't really all that hot outside, but inside it was just miserable!

So, I haven't babbled about my weekend yet.

It was my one week of the month to get out of there at 12:45 instead of 4:15, so I ran for the door. I stopped at home to call around to photo places to get price quotes for digital prints. Ended up going to Universal Color up in New Hope and was very happy with the quality. Then stopped at Hot Comics to pick up me & hellbob's stuff. Apparently chebutykin was also there on Friday afternoon, but not at the same time as me. I headed to NatCam to drop off the pictures for their photo contest. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Then it was home to pack.

hellbob got home at about 5:30 and after I cleaned most of the crap out of the trunk of the car, we got it loaded up for the cabin. Clan Foley showed up at about 6:30 or so & we hit the road. We had a brief long stop in Waite Park as we loaded up on groceries for the weekend. It was quite the organizational mess, wandering a huge grocery store with me, hellbob, kaldeth, kalfoley, teenage daughter N, smaller daughter A, and smallest son J. But, cars loaded with provisions, we once again hit the road and got to the cabin probably around 10ish.

This cabin is a sight to behold. It was very obviously decorated in the sixties, and there were probably many, many parties there. It's pretty big, with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, an extra bed in the main room downstairs, and pull out couches. It can sleep at least a dozen before you have to start pulling out air mattresses. I will have pictures of the cabin up on the web site soon. I just haven't felt ambitious enough yet to upload any of the pictures.

So we unpacked & settled in for a game of Killer Bunnies. The four adults already knew how to play, but we had to teach N. It was a long game, as it tends to be. I won, because Rick didn't have any bunnies & I got all his carrots. We ended up crashing at about 3:30 or 4:00. I rolled out of bed at about 10:30 the next morning. That's the last time I forget to shave my legs before going to the cabin! The shower is one of those tiny little stalls that is just not conducive to taking sharp objects to your skin in.

Around noon Jeanine showed up with her Zoe dog, and lucky13charm showed up a little bit later. hellbob & kaldeth had the fun job of mowing the lawn. HB really missed his self-propelled lawn mower!

After the yard work was done we donned our swimsuits & hopped on the pontoon boat. Unfortunately it was cloudy, so although it was warm out it wasn't "oh my god I want to jump in the lake" hot. This didn't stop A & J, of course. We were anchored in about 25 feet of water, so there were no weeds, and the kids had life vests so they floated. Eventually everyone but hellbob & lucky13charm had jumped in. After swimming, there was the required cruise around the lake. I spotted a bald eagle! Also a couple of loons. We didn't really get close enough to either for really good pictures though.

Back at the cabin we sent the boys to town for bread & hamburger buns, while the rest of us played a game of Apples to Apples. lucky13charm had a bit of beginner's luck going on. :P

When the boys got back, hellbob put on this chef's hat & got to work. Unfortunately the grill was on the cement patio under the deck. This became a very bad thing because all the smoke drifted up through it to the table we were all sitting at. But the burgers were good and that's really all that matters.

Shortly after dinner Jeanine & Zoe headed back to the cities and the rest of us broke out the bunnies game again. Just as we were starting kalfoley called us all outside & told me to bring my camera. There was some uber-cool heat lightning going on across the lake. I took several pictures (again, they'll be up on the site eventually) and even captured a ufo! OK, so it was probably an airplane. But, you can't prove that! We were done with the game and ready to crash by about 12:30.

The next day hellbob was uber-chef again & cooked us up a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and mash browns. Yum! Then we cleaned, packed, and headed home. After a brief stop at the Foley house for J's birthday we came home and collapsed. It's hard work spending the weekend relaxing!
