Memery, Wiki style

Stolen from kniblet & jenett. Apparently there are variations on this going around because kniblet's was
Go to Wikipedia and look up your birth day (excluding the year). List 3 neat facts, 2 births and 1 death in your journal, including the year, but jenett's was 3/3/3

July 12th:

Facts:
1. 1932 - Hedley Verity establishes a first-class record by taking all ten wickets for only ten runs against Nottinghamshire on a pitch affected by a storm. I have NO idea what this means... I'm betting it's a weird British thing.
2. 1933 - Congress passes the first federal minimum wage law in the United States: 33 cents per hour.
3. 2002 - Gay rights: The Superior Court of Ontario orders Ontario to recognize same-sex marriages.

Births:
1. 100 BC - Gaius Julius Caesar, Roman soldier and politician (d. 44 BC)
2. 1817 - Henry David Thoreau, American writer and philosopher (d. 1862)
3. 1854 - George Eastman, American inventor (d. 1932)
3.1. 1895 - Buckminster Fuller, American architect (d. 1983)
3.2. 1917 - Andrew Wyeth, American artist
3.3. 1948 - Richard Simmons, American fitness trainer
(couldn't help it. There were more than 3 that caught my eye.)

For some odd reason, George Eastman is the one I'm most excited about...
"George Eastman (July 12, 1854 – March 14, 1932) founded the Eastman Kodak Co. and invented roll film, which brought photography to the common man. The roll film was also the basis for the invention of the motion picture film, used by early filmmakers Thomas Edison, the Lumière Brothers and Georges Méliès."

Deaths:
1. 1682 - Jean Picard, French astronomer (b. 1620) No, it's not Captain Jean-Luc Picard, it's Jean-Felix Picard. Much older and probably not as hot.
2. 1804 - Alexander Hamilton, first United States Secretary of the Treasury (b. 1755) who was determined to be the "hot" founding father in one of my friends' journals: http://hellziggy.livejournal.com/350543.html
3. 1996 - Jonathan Melvoin, American musician and keyboardist (Smashing Pumpkins) (b. 1961)

fact#1 is cricket, dear girl! Also bloody impressive. I don't know much about baseball to come up with an analogy, but I suspect it's along the lines of a pitcher pitching every batter out in an innings.
