More randomosity

I have a theory that Lump and Gabriel spend the whole day while we are gone playing with each other and cuddling with each other. But Lump is ashamed of her unnatural relationship with a man over twice her age and so she growls at him when we are around so that we won't suspect the true nature of their relationship.

On campus this year they've installed these new emergency call box things with blue lights on top. They are at various places on the very tiny campus, as well as each floor of the parking ramp having several.
My first thought regarding them was "Damn, what happened over the summer that we need all this extra security all of a sudden?" Because of wondering that the blue lights don't really make me feel safer at all.
My second thought regarding them was "And really? How would this be useful if/when zombies attack?"

Those emergency boxes are going up on campuses all over the country as a direct result of Virginia Tech. Now, the real test will be if the schools manage to keep them all in working order and have the security staff to handle the crisis being called in.

I think a lot of that security stuff is exterior show, unfortunately.

And you're right...how useful will they be when the zombies attack!?

Ah. I never thought about Virginia Tech. Makes sense.

And by "exterior show" she means they're really giant Pez dispensers because those were cheaper than actual security devices.

When I get home I will check my Zombie Survival Guide to see if, perhaps, they are mesmerised by blue lights? Although that's not likely, given the vast number of zombies who inhabit K-Marts across the country!

They began putting them in at the U of MN about...1989? 1990? We used to joke that they made pretty worthless TARDISes.

CYA? Maybe nothing needs to happen, they're just making sure that they don't get sued for "not doing something".

A couple nights ago at dinner, my friend mentioned the apocalypse and I corrected her, saying "zombie apocalypse". I then went on to explain, even though she is a Normal and somewhat skeptical of Computer People (not to mention Goths, Freaks, Geeks, Nerds, and even Artists) about my group of friends who not only manage to reference the zombie apocalypse in just about any casual conversation, but who can also explain in detail their plans for escape, shelter, defense and strategy in the event of one.

To my sincere astonishment, she thought it was great. "I love anything involving zombies!"

There's hope for her yet.

Zombie-bait bait
The blue lights project a false sense of security.

The false sense of security attracts hordes morons.

The morons attract hordes of zombies.

The nerds and geeks stay far away from the blue lights and excute their well thought out apocalyptic contingency plans using the now zombie-free escape routes.
