I've become addicted to experiencing Antarctica vicariously through others. About 2 years ago or so I ended up on mcpenguin's LiveJournal as he was just getting to the end of his first winterover in Antarctica. I friended him and have been following him ever since. (and 3 of my other LJ friends have started following him too) I've got a little stuffed Moose that I take on vacations, and send with friends when they are going somewhere cool. Last fall I sent him down to visit mcpenguin and so Moose got to spend about 4 months down there on the bottom of the world! I also just recently a few months ago friended 30toseoul who is wintering at the actual South Pole. I really can't imagine how people did it before the internet!
